Carbon Capture & Storage Tools & Calculators

New CCS Web Tools for Early Project Screening

At CCS Energy, we’re continually developing innovative web-based applications and calculators to support the early-stage screening and design of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects.

Our online tools are designed to help engineers, geoscientists, and project developers rapidly assess CO₂ storage potential, fluid behaviour, and key reservoir characteristics—all directly from your browser.

We’ll continue to expand our library of CCS screening tools, so be sure to bookmark this page and check back for updates.

Carbon Dioxide Reservoir Storage Calculator

This simple yet powerful calculator provides a quick estimate of potential CO₂ storage capacity within a geological reservoir. By entering a few basic reservoir parameters, users can obtain an approximate CO₂ storage volume to guide early project evaluation and feasibility screening.

CO₂ Fluid Property and Phase Envelope Calculator

Our CO₂ Fluid Property Calculator helps users estimate key thermophysical properties of injected CO₂ such as density, viscosity, and phase behaviour under user specified reservoir conditions.

The tool also plots the CO₂ phase envelope, allowing users to visualize fluid state transitions (gas, liquid, supercritical) at their selected pressure and temperature values.

CO₂ Injection Well  Injection Pressure Calculator

The CO₂ Injection Well Injection Pressure Calculator estimates flowing and shut-in tubing head pressure for carbon capture and storage injection wells. The calculator takes into account fluid compressibility and density variations along the well, as well as frictional pressure losses in the tubing and sand-face pressure drops across the injection interval.

The app plots pressure profile across the length of the well for given conditions, and can also provide a sensitivity plot for required tubing head delivery pressure to achieve a range of injection rates.

Why Use CCS Energy’s Online Tools?

  • Fast project screening: Evaluate key parameters before committing to detailed simulation.

  • Accurate, physics-based models: Powered by reliable thermodynamic and reservoir property correlations.

  • Free and easy to use: Accessible from any device—no downloads required.

These tools are part of CCS Energy’s commitment to delivering cost-effective, practical solutions for organizations pursuing a sustainable energy transition through carbon capture and storage. These tools provide initial screening estimates only assuming pure CO2 flow streams. The devil is always in the detail – especially when it comes to impurities, so for more detailed analysis based on your actual injection conditions please contact us.
